Beaming Out
[Note: I’d love to credit the source of this image, but I can’t for the life of me figure out where I found it!]
The plan was for the WAAGNFNP blog to run for one year, and it saddens me to inform you that we’re not quite going to be able to meet that goal.
I’d like to offer my sincerest thanks to my chief blog co-admins christian h. and JP Stormcrow for all their support, hard work, and friendship. Equally heartfelt thanks to James Killus and Kiera who stepped in to help when we needed them most.
To everyone who contributed posts: beyond thanks, let me just say that I’m so proud of the quality of what we’ve been able to do here and so touched by your participation that it feels like a mini-GNF going off in my heart.
To everyone who participated in the comments and made this so much fun, and to everyone who just lurked: thanks for being here in any way that you were. (Never forget: Gojira sees all!)
And although real-world life (stupid day jobs!) may be impeding on blog life, we assure you, as 3Tops is our witness, the We Are All Giant Nuclear Fireball Now Party lives on!

Many many thanks go to the Minister of Justice, Oaktown Girl, who not only envisioned this blog happening but actually made it happen.
(My own projects usually don’t get past the “this might be a good idea” phase.)
What do we want? G - N - F! when do we want it? NOW!

Gracias beaucoup Madame MoJ for the full-to-the-brim good spirits you brought this project and shared with all who stopped by. And before this the successful show trial of Chris Clarke. (Rumor is he’s out and living on your side of the bay.)
Yeah, stupid day jobs, the better option only when paired against stupid starvation. Live on, fight another day.
Thanks, too, to the officers, contributors, and general hangers-around. The Google-verse got a little smaller today.

Fare you well my honey
Fare you well my only true one
All the birds that were singing
Have flown except you aloneGoin to leave this Broke-down Palace
On my hands and my knees I will roll roll roll
Make myself a bed by the waterside
In my time - in my time - I will roll roll rollIn a bed, in a bed
by the waterside I will lay my head
Listen to the river sing sweet songs
to rock my soulRiver gonna take me
Sing me sweet and sleepy
Sing me sweet and sleepy
all the way back back home
It’s a far gone lullaby
sung many years ago
Mama, Mama, many worlds I’ve come
since I first left homeGoin home, goin home
by the waterside I will rest my bones
Listen to the river sing sweet songs
to rock my soulGoin to plant a weeping willow
On the banks green edge it will grow grow grow
Sing a lullaby beside the water
Lovers come and go - the river roll roll rollFare you well, fare you well
I love you more than words can tell
Listen to the river sing sweet songs
to rock my soul -

Well after reading that article, since we all will still be alive probably in 20 years, I’d say the end is going to be nasty.

I had one last slugfest with Spam Filter, on spyder’s behalf, not mine own. I moderated my own videos, (what a mensch!) and note that the Massive Attack song behind the last video is the one also used behind Dead Sheep, because once you get the Giant Nuclear Fireball in your head, you can’t ever get it out.

Thanks James, nice to know that those that some consider elders stay attuned to the cultural lexicon of the young adults. I like Massive Attack, and have always enjoyed Cowboy Bebop. It is a treat to end on these chords.
Inquiring minds what to know, can Sparkychan play a nine iron from there????

It was fun…and if anybody is feeling nostalgic, feel free to TRUNK yourself at any time. I can guarantee that it will be either roasting hot, freezing cold, or chock full of enough junk to be worthy of an iron maiden…

My work here is done. I now carry the “New Nihilism” of the WAAGNFNP back with me to the future. The “Twelve Mementos of Sweetness and Light” was always just a cover story - they shall have always never figured it out.

Dr. Lilian Thurman: And how did you feel, being denied these hungry, hungry hippos?
Donnie: Regret.… No tomorrow, no tomorrow
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I’m dying
Are the best I’ve ever had
I find it hard to tell you
‘Cos I find it hard to take

It was a nice community. So what if it was an extended flash mob. The minds and the weirdnesses, the exhaustion, and the accomplishment. Without irony, gonna miss you nuts. Oh, just in case you wanted to know there is in fact a gojira berry. I bought the juice the other day at Berkeley Bowl. Interesting orange hue and good mixed with water and a little atomic apocalypse.

JP - Sparkychan is deep in aerosol country in that shot. No one plays a nine iron back there, though I’ve seen someone put penny on a rail before a freight train rolled through and made the penny fatter and flatter.

there is in fact a gojira berry
Indeed. It comes from the Himalayas originally, and non-Party members mistakenly call it “Goji”. It’s supposed to be the source of longevity, good health and long apparent “youth”. It’s good stuff without alcohol, and is chock full of vitamins and minerals. A bit pricey, though Loyal Party Patriots can alway get a good deal.
[This comment has been slightly edited by the Ministry of Justice to conform to Party Doctrine.]

Oaktown Girl, sorry to hear the Party Is Over and for not doing my part to Keep It Going. Stupid day jobs, indeed! Hope there’s a way of archiving the material on this site, b/c I have a feeling there are more like romy b. who will discover and appreciate what you all have been doing in retrospect. Is there an easy way to migrate the site from a paid to free host?
Hey, and since all the clouds in a nuclear winter have silver linings (radioactivity–yum!), I notice peter ramus is blogging over at The Quotidian these days. And of course all Party-ers are welcome to enjoy the privileges of the author function at Mostly Harmless, where Gojochan and Sparkychan have been adventuring and the golf blogging is plentiful.
