Open Thread (#19)
Nothing fancy today. I just hope everyone has their flag lapel pin in place and some time set aside for some good old escapism from the fucked up state of the world all-American baseball watching. (By the way, are they even on TV? I cannot find them … oops, found them, TNT … nevermind.) Trust me, I’m not trying to harsh anyone’s buzz (speaking of which did any video of spyder in action during this incident ever emerge?) , I’m just a bit weary of living in a country ruled by insane psycopathic liars this week - usually I’m just fine with it.
So far I’ve not really been pulled into the playoff action - Cleveland gratifyingly taking care of business in Game 1 and a nice pitcher’s duel so far in Game 2 even though they are down 1-0. But who knows what evil this way comes? To prepare I found a nice article via Lawyers, Guns and Money which chronicles the many “levels of losing” from Level XVI “The Princeton Principle” to Level II “The Goose/Maverick Tailspin“. (He is from Boston and reserves Level I for “The Game” - I personally think the Cubs effort a few years back rises to that level as well.)
… damn, Indians strand leadoff triple …. must stay positive and detached, must stay positive and detached.
[Update: Found some other strange game on another channel - people skating around on ice running into each other. For real! Doubt that it will last though.]

Interesting twist in Indians/Yankees. In the 8th, hordes of small insects in the infield - Yankees reliever is clearly bothered by them and a 4-pitch walk, sac bunt and 2 wild pitches leaves the game 1-1. But Indians can’t convert for more with men on 1st & 2nd 2 Out.

It’s 5:48 MOJ time - and I’ve been swamped at work, hope it’s still 1-1. The Stankees MUST GO DOWN. Good start yesterday, but cannot count them out until their head’s completely chopped off. Go Cleveland!!

Well it only took 347 men left on base, 26 walks 17 HBP, 12 wild pitches and 8 billion bugs, but Indians prevail 2-1 in the 11th.
Great pitching by the tribe.

i believe i have successfully sequestered it all, but can only hope that more doesn’t show up. Of course if you have connections in the Bay Area, you might be able to negotiate with the Hippie Gourmet, since he has it all recorded in HD.But in case you want to divert some of your attention away from those funny guys in funny clothes running around touching puffy pillows with their feet, you could wonder about this Oral Roberts University President Richard Roberts, says God is speaking again, telling him to deny lurid allegations in a lawsuit that threatens to engulf this 44-year-old Bible Belt college in scandal.
Richard Roberts is accused of illegal involvement in a local political campaign and lavish spending at donors’ expense, including numerous home remodeling projects, use of the university jet for his daughter’s senior trip to the Bahamas, and a red Mercedes convertible and a Lexus SUV for his wife, Lindsay.
She is accused of dropping tens of thousands of dollars on clothes, awarding nonacademic scholarships to friends of her children and sending scores of text messages on university-issued cell phones to people described in the lawsuit as “underage males.”
LA is up over RedSox in 3rd,
and for TC: Karrie Webb and Lorena Ochoa will be battling it out in Danville tomorrow hoping to make Lori Kane go away. -

I left the office and got to a television set just in time to see Cleveland knock in the winning run. So very, very sweet.
But can’t get too happy yet. The Stankees are down, and now it’s time to step on their necks and drive a silver stake through their hearts. Because unlike Rush Limp-baugh, that will actually kill them.

Unfortunately, the Red Sox won…thanks to this asshole, after he hit the game winning homer in the 9th:
I am one of the best players in the game,” said [Manny] Ramirez, who missed almost all of September with a strained side muscle and finished with the worst full-season stats of his career.

For a good laugh, may I suggest a trip to Zaius Nation: Some Apes Are More Equal Than Others. I’m thinking these Zaiusians are kin to post-apocalyptic WAAGNFN Partisans. & Zaius has cool shades, which he’d need, of course, to withstand the visual intensity of The Big One.

Cubs go down ugly and painful, swept 3-0 by Arizona - today going 0-9 with players in scoring position, and hitting into 3 double plays. I hope Brother christian, who is on the road, was spared actually viewing his team’s grim demise. I feel your pain, Cubbie fans - the A’s have been close but no cigar most of the 2000’s (remember - the A’s were in the ALCS just last year).
College football: Spoke with a guy earlier today who is a USC (currently ranked #2) alum and huge fan, and he was looking forward to “crushing Stanford” (unranked) today. He was mad that Stanford’s coach accused USC of cheating on recruiting. For the record, I’m no Stanford fan, them being my school’s (California) chief rival. However, that’s not exactly an unfounded accusation against USC. But in an extremely uncharacteristic moment of holding my tongue, I resisted saying, “Truth hurts sometimes, don’t it?”.
Gee, I sure hope he enjoyed the game today. I wonder how that worked out for him?

As my alma mater goes down in the unholy flames of that weird university for all irish catholics (or is that of the Neutered and Damned), i could only feel the blow being cushioned by that defeat of the university of selfish capitalists. Overall this doesn’t bode too well for tomorrow’s card.
And for TC, the final threesome of Petterson, Kane, and Ochoa, tee off within two of each other, on a day forecast to be almost perfect. Hope he can watch it.

Gosh, who’d of expected it when they barely backed into the title of the worst division in the Majors.
Tomorrow we look to New York. OF course I am rooting for the Indians, but I must say Oaktown and Kiera, your anti-Yankees fervor is a little scary at times.

Do you measure the coach (Jesus) by the play of his team??? Well if this is any indication, the team really stinks.
Isn’t it great how God doesn’t allow for complacency? “Be perfect, as I AM perfect.”
Our hope is not in achieving holy perfection, but in constantly growing, stretching, and maturing towards the likeness of Christ!Obviously most women can’t be part of this team, only those that can look like Jesus.

Obviously there was simply a collapse of the hate energy being poured into NYC. Seven runs in two innings, i mean, come on people, what were you doing eating and watching football????

It’s actually Oaktown Girl’s fervor, I just take marching orders to stay on her good side. You just don’t want to be on her bad side, scary and dangerous place.
what were you doing eating and watching football????
I was off-duty this weekend. I had an event to deal with and old friends to catch up on. Besides, we had to set them up for an even harder fall. They were no doubt boasting their complacent asses off after this win…and Oaktown Girl will find it all the sweeter when they get those asses kicked in the next game.

Which is today - this afternoon in fact, West coast time. Set your hate-o-meters accordingly.

Mission Accomplished. The “Curse of the Kiera” is still firmly in place and the Stankees have suffered ignominious defeat on their home turf. Hasn’t Steinbrenner figured out yet that his troubles began with the signing of Jason Giambi? What a clueless moron.
Oh, and the Cal Bears are number 2 in all the rankings (LSU is #1).
All in all, a happy day in MOJ-land.

Well, I had to make the Stankees think they actually had a snowball’s chance in hell. Get their paltry little hopes up and then dash them to the ground. Prince Tuffy (at the MOJ’s abode) would accept no less.
The Red Sox (whom I assume are my next target) are going to be much more difficult as they are not under a specific curse.

Tee-hee-hee! *snort!* Yeah, a little stressful with Cleveland not adding on any runs, but well worth the stress in the end - letting the Stankees get a whiff of life and then pulling the rug out like that. Sweet. Yes, Prince Tuffy and the rest of the furry-plushy crew got lots of hugs and kisses…{Smooch!} And Go Cal Bears!! (I’m sure the university now fears having all its Nobel Prizes and other academic awards revoked on General Principle!)
The Red Sox (whom I assume are my next target) are going to be much more difficult as they are not under a specific curse.
Indeed, but you kind of like a challenge.

Well thank you all for playing Hate the Yankees. Well done!!! Now we can have a Eastside vs Westside World Series without the Stank. Interesting that should Indians prevail, the biggest media market (population of metropolitan region) of the bunch would be Phoenix, with Boston & Denver about the same, and Cleveland well down the list.
